Ground Fault Equipment Protection Breakers
Ground Fault Equipment Protection Breakers
National Electric Code and manufacturer’s installation instructions require 30 mA ground fault protection for electrical circuits powering self-regulating heat cable. This circuit protection can be handled in many ways, but we highly recommend using 30 mA trip load rated GFEP (or EPD depending on the product manufacturer) breakers.Ā
GFEP (Ground Fault Equipment Protection)Ā or EPD (Equipment Protection Device) breakers cover the entire branch circuit as soon as it leaves the breaker panel, allowing multiple heat cable power locations without the need for multiple ground fault devices. In addition, the circuit breaker is the first intuitive and accessible location to manage the flow of electricity, making the circuit breaker the most natural location to integrate a built in ground fault device.
All major breaker panel equipment manufacturers have GFEP or EPD models, but they can be tricky to track down – We will do that for you!
Due to manufacturer lead times, please call for pricing and availability.
